What Executive Sponsorship Actually Means

Not an Endorsement.

A Founding Commitment.

When a bank puts a sports organization's logo on a credit card, that is an endorsement. When NASO stepped in as the executive sponsor of Officials Federal Credit Union, it was something categorically different.

NASO provided the donated capital that funded the NCUA charter application from the start. NASO opened its 26,000-member base as OFCU's founding field of membership under the NCUA's Trade, Industry, or Profession charter classification. NASO's president sits on OFCU's board today.

The reason the NASO did this is because they believe in a better sports officiating world. One where all officials, assignors and family members have access to financial tools that make sense for them.

Donated Capital

NASO provided donated capital that funded both NCUA Phase I and Phase II charter application processes. Without that commitment, OFCU does not exist.

Founding Field of Membership

NASO's 26,000+ member base anchored OFCU's TIP Single Common Bond occupational charter giving the credit union its primary eligible membership population from day one. Providing members who were surveyed and agreed that sports officials needed a financial home.

Board Representation

NASO President Bill Topp serves on OFCU's founding board of directors as a volunteer member. NASO's institutional priorities have a direct, ongoing influence on how OFCU is governed.

Primary Channel Partner

NASO connects OFCU to officials across all 50 states, every sport, and every competitive level. That means that if you are a member of the NASO you also can pre qualify as a member of OFCU.

Summit Fund Precedent

NASO's existing Summit Fund sponsorship structure provided the operational and legal precedent for OFCU's pre-charter funding model, grounding the relationship in established NASO practice. Investing in products or services that will have positive impact on the sports officials community.
